This session will discuss the drivers of sustainable design (e.g. Title-24, statewide Net Zero Energy targets, green building certifications, financial incentives) and the synergies between high performing buildings and health, wellness, and productivity.

Avideh is a designer at Steinberg architects, passionate about making positive change in our built environment. She is personally and professionally invested in creating an environmentally sustainable and socially equitable future through an understanding of buildings as a part of a dynamic socio-ecological system. Avideh is a LEED accredited professional with experience on a variety of projects from master planning and K-12 to mixed use/multi-family residential and hospitality, totaling over 1.5 million square feet. She is a member of the local USGBC chapter, and is an Ambassador, Facilitator and Steering Committee member of the Living Building Challenge collaborative in Los Angeles.
Justin Di Palo is a Licensed Professional Mechanical Engineer, Living Building Challenge Ambassador, EcoDistricts Accredited Professional, and LEED Accredited Professional whose passion for sustainability has led him to specialize in energy engineering and building energy modeling. As a Living Building Challenge Ambassador and Collaborative Leader, Justin is determined to educate and inspire the local community to transform the built environment of Los Angeles.
